For the first time, the 2024 edition of South Sudan Oil & Power will be accompanied by the South Sudan Mining Forum, officially endorsed by the Ministry of Mining and set to propel South Sudan into the global mining arena.

The country is in the early stages of building its mining sector, aiming to leverage rising demand for critical and industrial minerals to harness domestic reserves of copper – estimated at eight million tons – gold, diamonds, cobalt, nickel, lithium and rare earth elements.

The inaugural edition of the South Sudan Mining Forum will showcase new project developments and facilitate partnership and investment between local and foreign mining firms.

Taking place alongside SSOP, the forum will explore the intersection of mining and energy and how South Sudan can leverage its existing infrastructure to support mining operations, as well as position critical minerals as a catalyst for the energy transition.
