South Sudan Oil and Power (SSOP) proudly celebrates its fifth anniversary as the premier international forum driving business and investment in East Africa’s only major oil producing market.
This year, SSOP takes place in Juba on September 13-14, in official partnership with the Ministry of Petroleum, the Ministry of Energy and Dams and the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning.

In a post-COVID-19, energy transition context, South Sudan has emerged as the gateway to East African energy development. As the only oil producing nation in the region, the landlocked country is of strategic importance to a region in short supply of energy, particularly as regional countries pursue a sustainable COVID-19 economic recovery program.Through the government’s redirected focus on domestic capacity building, regional supply networks and international exports, South Sudan has positioned itself as a gateway to the region, with opportunities transcending its national borders, while covering a myriad of sectors and the entire energy value chain.
With energy serving as the foundation on which much economic progress is based, SSOP 2022 strives to increase investments in hydrocarbons, while at the same time making a strong play for infrastructure, power generation and capital injection into new energy innovation. During the fifth edition of SSOP, participants can expect an exciting lineup of industry-advancing panel discussions, presentations, technical sessions and investor meetings, as the event promotes the wide spectrum of opportunities present in South Sudan.
The two-day event will tackle the energy transition, capacity building as well as skills and technology transfer in oil, gas, power and related sectors.
